The Swimming for All programme, a cornerstone of the Activities for All initiative led by YES@ Areté Learning Trust, is celebrating continued success since its launch in 2019. Generously supported by the The National Lottery Community Fund, the programme has opened up vital opportunities for children and young people who might otherwise face barriers to accessing swimming.

Residents across York and North Yorkshire are set to benefit from exciting new opportunities to get active, following the first round of funding from the Mayor’s Movement, Activity and Sport Fund.

A new specialist programme designed to support neurodivergent young people who are struggling to attend school due to anxiety will launch this spring at the Daisy Chain Project.

The programme, called NEST – Nurture, Engagement, Support and Transition, will begin on 1 April 2026 and aims to support young people in Years 7–11 who are experiencing anxious non-attendance. The initiative focuses on helping young people rebuild confidence, develop emotional regulation skills and gradually prepare to re-engage with education.

North Yorkshire Council are inviting stakeholders to contribute to youth work workforce mapping across North Yorkshire and are also gathering interest from peer support groups for external mental health training opportunities. These initiatives form part of the Children and Young People’s Mental Health Transformation Programme and are shared here for information.

Carers Plus Yorkshire are hosting a unique and meaningful learning opportunity — the Immersive Experience Bus: Autism — designed to help participants better understand autism through sensory-based activities, real-life simulations, and guided exploration.
