Are you caring for a dyslexic child? Take part in a survey about sleep!

In the name of children with dyslexia please consider supporting a research project at University College London.

Research suggests that sleep helps learning and memory. However, recent research also suggests that sleep difficulties are very common in young children and even more so in children whose development is atypical. Very little is still known about the sleep behaviour of dyslexic children.

University College London explore this by asking caregivers of dyslexic children or children with suspected dyslexia to fill in an online questionnaire about the sleep behaviour and anxiety patterns of their children.

At the end of the questionnaire there will be an option to volunteer to participate in a second, measured part of the study. Objective measures of sleep of children will be taken in two ways: by actigraphy, wearing a watch like device (supplied by UCL) for a week at night in home surroundings measuring the actual sleep pattern; and by taking saliva tests measuring the cortisol levels at several times during a 24-hour period. The results will be shared with all participants.

To participate please see attached leaflet.
