Yes @ Areté Learning Trust provides Regional Training with National Speakers. Our training on different aspects of supporting students with Specific Learning Differences will be available throughout the year. Listings of planned training are constantly updated.

Here at YES @ Areté Learning Trust we strive to promote an understanding of Specific Learning Differences in order to support students/pupils, parents and professionals.

We believe that the relationship between schools, professionals and parents is incredibly important, which is why we promote a ‘Parents as Partners’ ethos.

The SEND Code of Practice places great importance on involving parents and children in identifying, understanding and taking decisions about special educational needs. We work with parents, recognising the importance of neurodiversity, to create unique pupil profiles.

For parents be at the heart of decision making about their child, it is helpful for them to be fully informed about their child’s needs.

We liaise with a number of parents support group and offer:

  • bespoke support.
  • workshops, meetings and specialist information sharing.
  • reduced rates on all our training events for parents/carers.

Supporting Young People to Feel Calm, Focused and Ready to Learn

Concious Breathing Training

Conscious breathing is a simple yet powerful wellbeing practice that helps children and young people develop greater calm, focus and emotional resilience. It also provides teachers and school staff with practical tools to support their own wellbeing and create a positive learning environment.

Suitable for pupils of all ages, this evidence-informed training explores accessible breathing techniques that can be easily integrated into the school day to support physical, mental and emotional health.

Examination Access Arrangements

6th October 2023 @ 9.30am - 3.30pm

This course is for everyone involved in Access Arrangements assessments for General Qualifications (e.g. GCSE, A levels). This includes Access Arrangements Assessors, SENCOs, Examinations Officers and Educational Psychologists working at school and FE level.

Changes for the 2023/24 JCQ regulations to ensure delegates are fully up to date with the JCQ requirements.

What does the training cover?

  • Rationale for access arrangements
  • Types of access arrangements
  • Evidence requirements
  • JCQ access arrangements inspections
  • Applying for arrangements using Access
  • Arrangements Online
  • Recommendations for tests and assessments
  • Completing JCQ paperwork, including Form 8
  • Opportunities to ask questions and discuss case studies
  • Copies of a range of tests will be available for perusal

This course is SASC approved and every delegate will receive a certificate.

Training led by: Lia Castiglione

Lia has been teaching and supporting learners of all ages for over 30 years and in varying educational settings.

She is a specialist teacher assessor who is highly experienced in all aspects of access arrangements, has held a current Assessment Practising Certificate since 2008 and regularly assesses in schools and colleges. An accomplished educational trainer, Lia is the co-creator of a postgraduate access arrangements assessor course and is the author of the Patoss/JCQ book, ‘Assessing the Need for Access  Arrangements’. She works as an independent educational consultant through her company ‘Castiglione Consulting Ltd’.
