Yes @ Areté Learning Trust provides Regional Training with National Speakers. Our training on different aspects of supporting students with Specific Learning Differences will be available throughout the year. Listings of planned training are constantly updated.

Here at YES @ Areté Learning Trust we strive to promote an understanding of Specific Learning Differences in order to support students/pupils, parents and professionals.

  • analysis of current provision focusing on impact, individual
  • pupil assessment with comprehensive reporting.
  • support with planning and the delivery of personalised
  • literacy and numeracy programmes.
  • progress reviews in person or by telephone.
  • access arrangements for external exams for KS4 and KS5.

 

We believe that the relationship between schools, professionals and parents is incredibly important, which is why we promote a ‘Parents as Partners’ ethos.

The SEND Code of Practice places great importance on involving parents and children in identifying, understanding and taking decisions about special educational needs. We work with parents, recognising the importance of neurodiversity, to create unique pupil profiles.

For parents be at the heart of decision making about their child, it is helpful for them to be fully informed about their child’s needs.

We liaise with a number of parents support group and offer:

  • bespoke support.
  • workshops, meetings and specialist information sharing.
  • reduced rates on all our training events for parents/carers.

Supporting Young People to Feel Calm, Focused and Ready to Learn

Concious Breathing Training

Conscious breathing is a simple yet powerful wellbeing practice that helps children and young people develop greater calm, focus and emotional resilience. It also provides teachers and school staff with practical tools to support their own wellbeing and create a positive learning environment.

Suitable for pupils of all ages, this evidence-informed training explores accessible breathing techniques that can be easily integrated into the school day to support physical, mental and emotional health.

Cost:
£225 + VAT, plus travel expenses

Practical Training for Early Years, Primary & SEN Staff

What is Colourful Semantics?

Colourful Semantics is a structured approach that helps
children understand and use sentence structure by linking words and meanings through a simple, visual colour system.

This engaging training introduces staff to a practical framework that supports children’s expressive language development and helps them communicate with greater confidence.

During this training, you will learn:

· What Colourful Semantics is and why it supports language development

· How the Colourful Semantics colour system works

· What each colour represents and how colours support sentence building

· How to introduce Colourful Semantics to children effectively

· Strategies for developing children’s spoken language skills

· Ways to adapt the approach for children with additional needs and SEN

· How to embed Colourful Semantics into everyday classroom practice

A Practical, Classroom-Focused Session

· This training includes:

· Practical demonstrations

· Real classroom examples

· Easy-to-use activity ideas

· Intervention strategies

· Tips for supporting children at different language levels

· You will leave with practical tools and ideas that can be used immediately in your setting.

Training led by: Charley Thickett & Katie Vizzard

Charley is a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with over 10 years’ experience supporting speech, language and communication development across early years and primary settings. Working with Speech Buddies, Charley delivers practical, evidence-informed training that empowers practitioners to build rich, responsive communication environments for young children.

Katie has over 20 years experience as a primary school teacher, and is now working as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant. She is skilled at translating theory into realistic, classroom-ready strategies that teachers can use straight away.

Time: 9.30am—1.00pm, 1:00pm—1:30pm lunch with an opportunity to network
