Yes @ Areté Learning Trust provides Regional Training with National Speakers. Our training on different aspects of supporting students with Specific Learning Differences will be available throughout the year. Listings of planned training are constantly updated.

Here at YES @ Areté Learning Trust we strive to promote an understanding of Specific Learning Differences in order to support students/pupils, parents and professionals.

  • analysis of current provision focusing on impact, individual
  • pupil assessment with comprehensive reporting.
  • support with planning and the delivery of personalised
  • literacy and numeracy programmes.
  • progress reviews in person or by telephone.
  • access arrangements for external exams for KS4 and KS5.

 

We believe that the relationship between schools, professionals and parents is incredibly important, which is why we promote a ‘Parents as Partners’ ethos.

The SEND Code of Practice places great importance on involving parents and children in identifying, understanding and taking decisions about special educational needs. We work with parents, recognising the importance of neurodiversity, to create unique pupil profiles.

For parents be at the heart of decision making about their child, it is helpful for them to be fully informed about their child’s needs.

We liaise with a number of parents support group and offer:

  • bespoke support.
  • workshops, meetings and specialist information sharing.
  • reduced rates on all our training events for parents/carers.

Supporting Young People to Feel Calm, Focused and Ready to Learn

Concious Breathing Training

Conscious breathing is a simple yet powerful wellbeing practice that helps children and young people develop greater calm, focus and emotional resilience. It also provides teachers and school staff with practical tools to support their own wellbeing and create a positive learning environment.

Suitable for pupils of all ages, this evidence-informed training explores accessible breathing techniques that can be easily integrated into the school day to support physical, mental and emotional health.

Comic Strip Conversations

Discover a powerful visual approach to building social understanding in children. This engaging online session introduces Comic Strip Conversations, a practical strategy created by Carol Gray to help children make sense of social situations in a clear and supportive way.

Using simple stick figures, speech bubbles and thoughtbubbles, you’ll learn how to:

  • Uncover hidden thoughts, feelings and perspectives
  • Reflect constructively on past incidents
  • Support problem-solving and planning for future situations
  • Encourage communication in a safe, non-confrontational way

This highly practical training includes live demonstrations, clear step-by-step guidance, and opportunities to practise in small breakout groups.

By the end of the session, you’ll have a straightforwardframework, ready-to-use examples, and the confidence to start using Comic Strip Conversations effectively at home or in school.

Perfect for teachers, teaching assistants, SEN staff andparents looking for simple, evidence-informed tools that make a real difference.

 

Training led by Lynn McCann (Reachout ASC)

Lynn McCann is the author of five books for teachers about supporting autistic children and young people. She is an independent specialist teacher based in the Northwest of England.. She and her team, work from pupil voices, always putting the child at the heart of all they do and supporting young people in primary, secondary and other settings. Lynn has many years’ experience of working with  anxious autistic young people and has delivered training around autism and mental health for many years. Her company, Reachout ASC Ltd, has autistic people on the team who help develop this training.

No refund is payable for a cancellation made within 2 weeks prior to the training course – in this event the full sum shown on the invoice remains payable.
