Autism can present differently in girls, and their struggles during the teenage years can be overlooked. This can have with negative consequences on their sense of identity and subsequent mental health.

This webinar aims to highlight these differences so that teachers can understand and respond appropriately to the behaviours and actions seen in these girls during their secondary school education.

This webinar will be delivered via ZOOM.

Learning outcomes:

  • To identify how autism presents in girls and how this differs from boys. 
  • To explore the vulnerable mental health of girls with autism.
  • To provides practical strategies for supporting teenage girls with autism at home and in the classroom.

Training led by: Lois M Addy MA (Ed) BSc (Hons) Psych. Dip COT SROT, SI-UK
Lois Addy is an independent SEND advisor and lecturer, teaching both nationally and internationally.  She has qualifications in occupational therapy, psychology and education, and has over 39 years’ experience in working with children with SEN; especially those with developmental coordination disorder (dyspraxia) and sensorimotor differences. Lois is the author of several books including ‘How to support children with sensory processing needs.
