The webinar consists of guidance on best practice to support the English as an Additional Language pupil.

This training session will be delivered via ZOOM.

The course consists of guidance on best practice to support the English as an Additional Language (EAL) pupil within the mainstream classroom.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • What is full emersion in the classroom? How does it benefit the EAL pupil?
  • Strategies which can be used in the classroom and throughout the school.
  • Effective differentiation for EAL pupils e.g. vocabulary building, extended knowledge organisers.

Audience: Teachers, NQTs, ITT and PGCE students

Training led by: Suzanne Wilson (Inclusion & Diversity Consultancy)
Suzanne Wilson is a fully qualified teacher in both further education and schools with a National Professional  Qualification for Senior Leadership.

She is highly experienced in both teaching, supporting and facilitating the needs of asylum seekers and refugees. Suzanne has managed a community college in Washington near Sunderland for 5 years where she taught asylum seekers, refugees and local students. During this time, she was on the management committees of two charities for children and asylum seekers.

As Suzanne’s passion grew to work with young people she trained and taught as a secondary school teacher for a further 6 years in North Yorkshire. Suzanne worked for North Yorkshire County Council for 7 years as a Minority Ethnic Achievement Specialist Teacher and an EAL and Gypsy Roma Traveller Consultant.
