Dyspraxia - Practical strategies… it’s not rocket science

This webinar will focus on raising self esteem by employing appropriate support strategies for children and young people with dyspraxia/DCD.

This webinar will be delivered via ZOOM. 

Delegates will learn about strategies that are a mix of those that can be used at school or/and at home, two places which are fundamentally connected and extremely important to an individual’s chances of success.

The strategies will be easy to instigate, not requiring expensive resources or the need for lots of time or extra people. A list of useful tips and advice, formulated by Gill Dixon with the help of those with this condition.

Its about ‘tweaking’ the way you work, our expectations and really empathising with those who have dyspraxia/DCD.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Greater understanding of what it means to live and learn with this condition in an environment which is often unfriendly and difficult to navigate.
  • Delegates will be better able to help people with dyspraxia/DCD both in school and at home.
  • Encourage a collaborative approach to meeting an individuals needs, acknowledging the need for parents and schools to work together with the child absolutely as the focus.

Gill Dixon is registered nurse who following the birth of her children re-trained in teaching. Subsequent to the recognition of her son's severe verbal and motor dyspraxia (‘dys-everything’) she studied for a degree in Health Sciences and subsequently an MA in Disability Studies. Gill is passionate about raising awareness and she writes for a number of publications. Gill has worked closely with the Dyspraxia

Foundation for many years. She was  appointed the first Charity Ambassador in June 2018. Publications Include: Dyspraxia The Foundations (2015), Making Inclusion work for Children with dyspraxia (2004) and Dyscover Yourself (a booklet for children).
