Successful Examination Access Arrangements Training at Richmond School

The session provided a valuable opportunity for colleagues involved in supporting pupils with additional needs to refresh their knowledge, explore the latest JCQ guidance for 2026, and gain clarity on the evidence and documentation required when applying for examination access arrangements.

Feedback from the day was overwhelmingly positive, with all delegates saying they would recommend the training. Of the 28 attendees, 27 completed our evaluation questionnaire, highlighting the value of the detailed guidance, practical resources and clear explanations.

Delegates particularly appreciated the comprehensive overview of access arrangements, updates to current requirements, and guidance on gathering evidence and completing the relevant forms. The handouts and supporting documents were also valued as useful resources to refer back to in school.

When asked what they would do first following the training, delegates identified a range of practical next steps, including reviewing candidate evidence, checking Forms 8 and 9, updating school policies, improving evidence-gathering processes and sharing key information with colleagues. Many also highlighted the importance of working closely with SENCOs, exams officers and teaching staff to ensure arrangements are appropriate and properly supported.

The feedback also highlighted the importance of opportunities to share good practice and discuss real-world scenarios, alongside the ongoing challenges schools face in meeting the increasingly complex needs of pupils with SEND.

Thank you to Rebecca Thompson and everyone who attended for making the day such a valuable learning opportunity.
