Double Success for Cycling for All as Tesco Stronger Starts Community Vote Confirmed in Richmond and Northallerton

This milestone means that, with the support of local communities, we can thankfully continue delivering our Cycling for All projects, which have already been a huge success, benefiting many children and young people who would otherwise not have been able to access cycling opportunities with their friends and families.

From mid-January until the end of March 2026, Tesco customers will be able to vote in store for the projects they wish to support. The project receiving the highest number of votes in each region will be awarded up to £1,500, with additional funding available for second- and third-placed projects.

About Cycling for All

Cycling for All creates inclusive, supportive cycling opportunities for children and young people aged 4–18 who experience learning differences and additional barriers to participation. This includes children and young people with developmental coordination disorder (DCD), autism, ADHD and mental-health related challenges.

The programme focuses on confidence-building, skill development and enjoyment, often enabling children to cycle alongside friends and family for the first time. Families consistently report meaningful and lasting impacts.

One parent shared:

“Really great team, who offer support tailored to individual needs and are truly passionate about getting kids on bikes. My son gained confidence in his abilities with positive feedback and encouragement.”

Another highlighted the importance of practical support:

“Being able to borrow a bike was fantastic. We also ended up borrowing a helmet as ours was not a good fit, and staff advised on the correct equipment—something I would have had no knowledge of if I hadn’t attended with my child. Overall, a great experience and a big help to both myself and my child.”

Parents have also praised the quality and accessibility of the sessions:

“Fantastic little course, value for money! Fab teachers. Can’t say enough positive things about it. There should be more courses like this available.”

For some families, the impact has been life-changing:

“It helped our son finally be able to ride a bike after trying for many years.”

Community-Based and Open to All

Delivered as part of our Activities for All programme, Cycling for All is open to all local families, regardless of which school their children attend. The sessions actively involve parents, carers, siblings and partner organisations to create welcoming, inclusive community spaces.

Voting Locations

Community voting will take place in the following Tesco stores:

  • Catterick Garrison Superstore (DL9 3EN) – supporting the Richmond project

  • Northallerton East Road Superstore (DL6 1NP) – supporting the Northallerton project

Customers can vote by making a purchase of any value in store and placing their token into the voting unit.
